Pottery analysis further supports the interpretation that the early Glaze A pottery of the Tiguex Province was heavily influenced by potters from the Zuni region. This interpretation of ritual refuse is based primarily on the macrobotanical and zooarchaeological profiles of the individual features, which indicates the presence of non-local and/or high economic value taxa. Analysis of this assemblage indicates the primary period of use for the areas excavated was during the Glaze A period with strong evidence for a ritual use/discard area that coincided with a burial area. These excavations resulted in the hand excavation of 41.75 m2, and included the identification of 136 features: 66 human burials (55 excavated), 1 dog burial (not excavated), and 69 non-burial features. This excavation, which continued through mid-August, 2008 and additional monitoring through October, 2008, was performed at the request of Albuquerque Public Schools to mitigate the effects of campus-wide drainage improvements and accompanying remodeling of the athletic field and running track.
